Introducing the Future Cities Africa project and digital knowledge platform

Tuesday, 21 July 2015

The Cities Alliance and the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) have launched a major new partnership initiative to support African cities as they transform themselves into resilient, inclusive centres of economic growth.

The Future Cities Africa (FCA) initiative will support cities in Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda and Mozambique to anticipate and minimise future challenges in terms of climate, environment and natural resources – essentially giving them the tools to ‘future proof’ themselves.

As part of the FCA project, Cities Alliance and Gaiasoft have developed a digital learning and knowledge platform for resilient and sustainable cities. They have produced a short video giving background to the project and the digital knowledge platform. The video makes the case for why African urbanization is a key transformative process, and why increasing the resilience of African cities is an essential task. Watch this video below:

If you are interested in learning more or engaging with the platform, please contact Morel Fourman of Gaiasoft.
