Call for papers: Conference for Planning Students and Young Graduates

Hosted by the University of Johannesburg, the third edition of the Conference for Planning Students and Young Graduates (CPSYG) is intended to turn its full attention and contributions to the planning challenges faced by the planet.

The current globalized world is facing major challenges that have pushed scientists of all walks of life and researchers to rethink the way the earth population is currently living. Cities, at the heart of the world, have become the scene where all these global problems are being experienced. The effects of issues such as rapid urbanization, climate change, drought and overcrowding have turned into major obstacles to the growth and positive transformation of urban regions. The current generation of planners are increasingly challenged to come up with clear response and possible solutions in order to make cities more adaptable and resilient to these threats. Urbanism, built environment sciences, engineering and socio-economic analysis have to play a pivotal role that will impact on the management of spatial transformation and innovation. Urban planners will continue to play active roles and serve as major actors who will propose flexible planning techniques that would assist cities to cope with the ever changing and hyper-dynamic environment. The support by government and all stakeholders for an inclusive cities and good urban governance is now taking center stage of all policy interventions and strategies. The CPSYG 2016 will again be the rightful platform to share best practices and contribute meaningfully to the prevailing debate in clear responses to these planning challenges.
