The Sudanese Institute of Architects (SIA) will host its fourth Scientific and Professional Conference from 9 to 11 November 2015 in Khartoum.
As the leading professional and scientific architectural institution in Sudan, the Sudanese Institute of Architects (SIA) organizes regularly scientific and professional conferences of international stature intended to present and discuss the emerging issues affecting the theories and practice of architecture and planning in Sudan and elsewhere. From 9 to 11 November 2015 the SIA will organize an international conference under the title ‘Towards Sustainable Urban Development’ that will be the fourth in the conference series. The Conference will take place in Khartoum.
The objectives of the Conference are as follows:
- To review critically and to contribute to the current thinking and debates about Sustainable Urban Development.
- To assess the prevailing urbanization patterns, their manifestations and ramifications.
- To explore the various facets of Sustainable Urban Development, namely, socio-cultural, managerial, technological and financial aspects.
- To review the recent developments in sustainable housing and its pertinent issues.
- To appraise the current status of professional practice in the fields of Sustainable Urban Development.
- To learn from best Sustainable Urban Development practices locally, regionally and internationally.
