The second Conference of Planning Students and Young Graduates (CPSYG 2015) will be hosted by the University of Johannesburg at their Doornfontein campus in downtown Johannesburg, South Africa.
Themed ‘Integrated Planning, Development, Implementation and Monitoring of Sustainable and Smart Cities’, the conference targets students and young professionals from disciplines including urban and regional planning, urban studies, built environment, public governance and administration, engineering and management, as well as other relevant disciplines.
Objectives: In recent years, Africa has been recognized as one of the fastest growing continent in the world. Cities have played a pivotal role in being the principal driver of the unprecedented economic growth and development. While the cities continue to develop and attract investments, the focus on sustainable smart cities is gaining attention across multitude of stakeholders. The cities are no longer confined to a defined boundaries but are emerging and connecting in form of regions and adapting to the opportunities for growth, expansion and its sustenance. The urban planners, built environment experts and other stakeholders have larger roles to unfold the paradigm of sustainable and smart cities at various levels of planning life cycle. The 2nd Conference of Planning Students and Young Graduates (CPSYG 2015) aims to provide a forum and a platform where young planning, built environment and related students and young professionals/ researchers/ practitioners and other stakeholders can discuss and contribute towards integrated planning, development, implementation, governance/ administration and monitoring of sustainable and smart cities.

Paper Selection: The authors of selected abstracts will be invited to submit a full paper. The full papers received will undergo a double-blind peer review process by a scientific committee. Accepted papers based on double-blind peer review will be selected for inclusion in the conference proceedings (with an ISBN).
