DAAD (the German Academic Exchange Service) has offered a series of scholarships for postgraudate study in planning, land management and spatial science at the Namibia University of Science and Technology.
DAAD, as a publicly funded, selfgoverning organisation of the institutions of higher education in Germany, promotes international academic exchange as well as educational co-operation with developing countries through a variety of funding and scholarship programmes.
Namibia University of Science & Technology (NUST) offers regional master’s and PhD degree programmes at the Department of Land and Property Science, meeting the need for highly qualified scientists in Africa:
- Master in Integrated Land Management
- Master in Spatial Science (Land Administration, Property Studies)
- PhD in Spatial Science (Land Administration, Property Studies)
As part of the ‘In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme’, in which more than 50 African universities and university networks participate and which annually supports almost 1.000 African postgraduates, DAAD in close collaboration with the GIZ assisted programme “Strengthening Capacities for Land Governance in Africa (SLGA)” is able to offer scholarships for postgraduate studies at NUST. The programme is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) within the framework of the special initiative ‘One World – No Hunger’. The scholarships aim at young candidates, mid-career professionals, researchers and university staff development in the first line, without neglecting other public sector demand of academically trained personnel.
DAAD is offering up to four scholarships for a master’s programme, and up to two scholarships for a PhD programme in one of the degree courses listed above (up to four African nationals and up to two Namibian citizens).
