The Consuming Urban Poverty project’s recent conference held at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Centre (from 14 to 16 March 2017) has resulted in the publication of a communiqué on measures to promote African urban food security.
The document, entitled Harnessing urban food systems for sustainable development and human well-being, was co-developed with members of UN-Habitat, the World Food Programme, World Health Organization, UN Economic Commission for Africa, South African Department of Human Settlements, IIED, RUAF, Esta, C40, University of Sydney, Hungry Cities Partnership, University of Cape Town, Kisumu Local Interaction Platform, Copperbelt University, and the University of Zimbabwe.
