UN-Habitat has launched Urban October 2016, a series of events to help raise awareness, promote participation, generate knowledge and engage the international community on sustainable urban development.

The 2nd International Conference on African Urban Planning, organized by the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning (University of Lisbon) in collaboration with the International Planning History Society (IPHS), will be held in Lisbon from 7 to 8 September 2017.

UN-Habitat collaborates with the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) and the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy in an international training programme focusing on slums, informal settlements and policies and approaches to upgrade existing settlements and prevent informal urbanization in cities in the Developing World. The course will take place from 10 to 28 July 2017 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The maiden edition of the International Conference on Sustainable Buildings and Infrastructure (ICOSBIN), also tagged as the Sustainable Education Buildings and Infrastructure in Nigeria (SEBIN 2016) conference, will be held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan (Ibadan, Nigeria), from 31 May to 2 June 2016.

The Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) has invited abstracts and papers for the first Mozambique Urban Research Forum, to take place in Maputo from 7 to 8 June 2016.

Hosted by the University of Johannesburg, the third edition of the Conference for Planning Students and Young Graduates (CPSYG) is intended to turn its full attention and contributions to the planning challenges faced by the planet.

N-AERUS has called for submissions to its 17th conference, to be held in Sweden in November 2016.

The 52nd ISOCARP Congress will take place in Durban, South Africa, from 12-16 September 2016. The deadline for abstract submissions is 4 April 2016.

The 3rd International Conference on Regional Development (ICRD) will address the theme ‘Enhancing Resilience: Bridging Knowledge and Policy for Cities and Regions’. With the successful story of the previous conferences, the upcoming 3rd ICRD will be held from 9 to 11 November 2016 in Semarang, the capital city of Central Java Province, Indonesia. The conference will be hosted by Initiatives for Regional Development and Environmental Management (IRDEM) in cooperation with Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Diponegoro University.

The zero draft outline for the Habitat III outcome document, which will ultimately frame ‘The New Urban Agenda’ for sustainable development, is available for download.

From 25 January to 5 February 2016, the Land Portal Foundation will be holding a debate on the Global Land Tool Network’s Gender Evaluation Criteria (GEC), which was created to assess the effectiveness of land tools in supporting women’s land rights. The discussion will focus on sharing best practices and lessons learned for supporting women’s land rights.

Abstract submissions are invited for the International Conference on Climate Change, to be held at Ladoke Akintola University of Science and Technology (Ogbomoso, Nigeria) from 18 to 20 May 2016.

Research Committee 21 (RC21) invites paper submissions towards its 2016 conference, themed ‘the trangressive city’.

Habitat III is the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, to take place in Quito, Ecuador, from 17 to 20 October, 2016. The UN’s Second Committee recently released its draft resolution on the procedures and rules to be followed in Habitat III.

The 16th N-AERUS conference will take place from 19 to 21 November 2015 in Dortmund (Germany) and will be jointly organized by N-AERUS, the Habitat Unit at the Technical University of Berlin and the Department of International Planning Studies at the TU Dortmund University.

The Regional Studies Association (RSA) 2015 Winter Conference will take place in London from 19 to 20 November.
